I recently inherited a Thompson Center Hawken .54 cal muzzle loader. I've spent nearly $200 on
accessories and powder. Now I'm ready to try shooting this beautiful piece. But I'm having trouble
finding a place that allows black powder guns. None of the indoor ranges allow them. I live in Cobb
county and know about the Georgia WMA's that some have gun ranges. The closest to me is likely
John's Mountain WMA which is at least an hours drive.
Does anybody know of a range available to shoot a muzzle loader without having to pay a membership
fee? So sorry the Creekside range that was near Taylorsville closed.
Thank you in advance!

I just checked on John's Mountain WMA gun range. It doesn't appear to be managed by the Georgia DNR anymore. Looks to be managed by the USFS. And has different rules for access and a requirement to view a safety video. Print your completion certificate because there may not be cell coverage at the range.
