Who has stock on 5.56 powder

Im
Gert van Rooyen Gert van Rooyen what type of press are you working with? I REALLY REALLY like my Redding T7 for precision pills but I’ll roll some plinkers progressive with a ball powder like CFE223 or H322
Hi, Im just starting out and got a Hornady LnL AP press, for just shooting AR15 will be using RCBS 223 Rem small base dies and for precision ordered Hornady Match 223 Rem dies.
Ga. Arms had blc 2 last time I was out there.
Thanks got some Hodgdon Benchmark from them. expensive but at least i can start testing

My advice is to keep it simple and don’t go out any buy 5 or 10 different versions of rifle powder. First, it’s all marked up stupid and second, you may not even have the patience to work up and keep proper track of multiple powders.

Can you shoot on your property or are you having to drive a distance to pop a cap?

1lb (7000 grains divided by an average of 25 grains for 223) will get you around 280 live rounds but you’ve got to work loads up and dial them in for EACH rifle.... even just plinking you’ve got to work them up and you could have 10+ charge amounts per projectile weight.

If you shoot 223 and 308, you’d be surprised how well IMR3031 performs with a 150gr and 55gr projectile and I see it often on the shelves.

I’d recommend a powder that burns clean, easy to trickle, works in multiple calibers that you actually own.

I’m using

BLC(2)
CFE223
3031
H335
H322
VN135
Varget

And I wish I had just bought several kegs of 3031 instead for simplicity!
Thanks for the advice, makes perfect sense. I have 2 rifles that i really care about for accuracy 6.5CM Bergara HMR and AR15 with white oak 16" DMS barrel, Not sure how well they will share powder. The other ones are AR15s with10.5" barrels, so not expecting to get serious on accuracy and will shoot whatever ammo i have. Maybe consider specific load that burns quicker for the shorter barrel. Are the powders you listed in any specific order

You can order 13lbs of Ramshot Tac from Powdervalley right now for $363.90! $27.99/Pound shipped to your door. You won't find a better deal right now.. Make sure you're signed in, Add 5 - 1lb, and the 1 and only 8lb..

Or you could get a boatload of Alliant 1200-R which is a hair slower than Benchmark for a good bit more monies..

I load mostly 9mm and 40. I forget how much more powder it takes for rifles. I get around 1400 rounds per pound in 9 and 40. I get 70 rounds per pound in 338 and 140 rounds in 308.
