Who has "the skill" friction fire

Yeah, um, my little "survival" expedition was in 1983. I don't think we had cameras back then. :D

I don't even remember what kind of wood we used. Ah, the joys of youth summer camp! I do remember making a leaf shelter, roasting some kind of "meat" on a stick, and gashing my leg open on a log, in the dark, on the way to the latrine. (that part should be in the "Whats the worst pain you ever felt" thread)
 
Sorry free junk but it is not leagel to say "survival" and "on the way to the latrine" in the same statement unless you include "hospital, severe dehydration" and "giardia" :p

I miss the 80's with parachute pants, bandanas and drunken all nighters. Not the clothes mind you more the drunken all nighters
 
As for the wood... Never use pine and go with "thumb nail" test. If u can dent the wood with ur thumb nail its probably soft enough. Always use soft wood never hard wood. Cedar is great for practicing
