Who here has gotten a job offer from a previous employer?

Normally, when I leave a job I don't expect to get an offer like that because I'm easily replaced. The market is flooded with IT guys looking for work.
Well, that and I have a tendency to napalm the bridges behind me.

However, if you are sure the reason you left the job is no longer there, I'd say give it a shot.

Thing is nowadays, one needs to always be looking for their next job. I hate that, but that's it. Plain and simple
I was miserable in my last job for years. I prayed for an open door. The strange thing is when I left folks came out of the woodwork. “ I wish I had known you were looking”, “wish you had come to us”, “wish I had known you were unhappy”. I’m happy where I am but you can bet I’m taking notes.

yep it would really crimp my style if I went back to work
Yep. I'm not there where I just do what I want, but I don't answer to anyone or punch a clock either. I still have appointments and have to turn the alarm on occasionally. I hate those days. I can still come home and take a nap though

I haven't gotten a return job offer, but my next to last job, which I held for 25 years, was, out of the blue, the company was sold off. I was involved in the sales negotiations and because I was the corporate memory, the buyer would only buy if I came along as part of the sale. I obligated to say at least a year and got a significant raise in salary. I ended up staying for 5 more years and got a wonderful send off when I left. I left them copious notes and in depth information on each of the customers and have heard back that has saved their bacon many times know who to talk to and how to approach them. I don't doubt, that if I wanted to come out of retirement they would welcome me back but I'm done. I've worked from the time I was 15 years old until I retired at 74 so I'm done.
