Buddy and I are doing an OTC Colorado Elk hunt. SO basically going to walk around for 6 days and see nothing 30th Bday present to myself. First real hunt in general. Haven't even shot a deer yet...

There are some drop camp hunts available in Col. They take you into public land past where walk-in hunters go. They don`t leave the horses with you, but check on you some. They pack in you and your stuff. Prices are good, much better than guides or outfitters.

Antelope is my favorite meat. Antelope is my favorite game. Only been once, back in 90s.(Wyoming) I got a good one. Took a few days. The antelope taught me how to hunt themselves. I stalked on foot, sometimes crawled through cactus, finally found a water hole they were using. I belly crawled to it at 4AM, set up an ambush, got the best one about 30 minutes after sunrise. Hard hunt but this is my style of hunting. No guides or outfitters. I`m sure you will enjoy your hunt and the meat. God Bless your trip, Sir.

I'll have to look into that for next time. I'm already planning next years hunt! I have gone down a rabbit hole I don't think ill be able to crawl out of...
