Years ago in the early 80's I believe you could buy an auto sear. Pictures below. I don't recall how the gov stopped this little piece from being made anymore.

This piece worked the same as what was on that film.

I remember seeing those in Shotgun News. You could buy all the parts for an AR through the mail, because parts back then were not guns.
