Why do the most interesting threads get deleted???

I have noticed a pattern of threads getting deleted entirely. These threads tend to be some oddball topic and draw an ODT dogpile. Then all of a sudden it is GONE. Not closed or moved to Stupid Stuff - GONE.

How is anything going to reach "Lego laying Chicken" infamy if the good stuff vanishes?
