"Why would I want to become a supporter if no one will make a deal with me??"

My last 3 deals have been with people with no feedback. I just make sure that I get a good "Vibe" from them, and I wont drive very far. If they really want to do the deal they will come to me. I also take great care to leave feedback for them. It has to start somewhere.

Then don't. Those folks won't be around for long, the market will drive them out. If their only interest is profit, let them trade with other newbies who don't know better. If a new person wants to buy at your price or sell at a fair price, let them. The last thing we need is to drive people away. Let's work to make them "supporters"

Just got back from a deal with a new guy with zero feedback and it couldn't have been more smooth. Polite and professional. Have also dealt with two other folks in the past two months who were new since 2013 with no feedback and both of them now have +1 feedback.

Everyone was the FNG at some point, cut them some slack and welcome them in! :thumb:

I think it's this, I haven't been burned personally but I can understand not wanting to deal with that. I have avoided doing deals lately except for one with a mod a little while back. But I personally won't deal with someone who joined in December only to sell their AR for 1500 above retail. If they want to do that then that's cool but I dot want to trade with them.

Not everyone who joined in Dec is here to **** us.

Good deal. I love poppin' newbies cherries! But we gotta stop with the for sale ads saying "I wont deal with you IF...."

It scares folks away.

Thank you leatherhead. I became a member because a couple buddies told me this was a good site and not just because of the deals. I was burned on websites a decade or more ago because of the know it all mentality that eventually ate the forums like a cancer so I watched this site for a while before joining. Once I did I tried to make some offers but felt like I was being shunned. On one of them before I could make an offer an established member posted a number that had nothing to do with the sale or purchase of that exact item. When I attempted to call him out on it I got the royal newbie treatment. So I became a supporter hoping that would make a difference. Shortly there after I saw another opportunity to pick up something that I had been wanting but it was only for members with 50 or more feedback. Until now I was starting to think that I had made a mistake.

This is interesting...Hey all...I just recently found this site do to my interest and what's happening politically today. After spending 30 min cruising the site i signed up for the 5 yr supporter option...I believe in commitment...Anyhow, I can certainly understand ODT Junkies and long term supporters being weary of newbie's, Hell, i'm one and sometime's i scare myself. As a newbie looking in i would hope i wouldn't be turned down on a deal do to lack of time as a supporter but would not take offense, Trust is more often than not acquired by one's past and by ODT having a ranking structure, it makes more sense to deal with someone who's been here a while instead of the fly by nighter. I've found great success in past dealing's by PM or e-mail and then phone qualifying a person before you ever agree to meet them, being a good judge of character help's.
I am more of a collector than a trader...but who know's, if the deal's right then it's just right.
Thanks for taking the time reading my long Bla Bla Bla.

I hate that it has been difficult for you to get started here...it hasnt always been like this. Im hoping to let some established members calm down a bit and at least give folks a chance before not dealing with them.
