"Why would I want to become a supporter if no one will make a deal with me??"

This is interesting...Hey all...I just recently found this site do to my interest and what's happening politically today. After spending 30 min cruising the site i signed up for the 5 yr supporter option...I believe in commitment...Anyhow, I can certainly understand ODT Junkies and long term supporters being weary of newbie's, Hell, i'm one and sometime's i scare myself. As a newbie looking in i would hope i wouldn't be turned down on a deal do to lack of time as a supporter but would not take offense, Trust is more often than not acquired by one's past and by ODT having a ranking structure, it makes more sense to deal with someone who's been here a while instead of the fly by nighter. I've found great success in past dealing's by PM or e-mail and then phone qualifying a person before you ever agree to meet them, being a good judge of character help's.
I am more of a collector than a trader...but who know's, if the deal's right then it's just right.
Thanks for taking the time reading my long Bla Bla Bla.

Welcome, glad to have you!

I'm noticing a trend here as of late, and I know this has been touched on before but I want to be pretty specific...

All these ads in the classifieds that say "I wont deal with you if you don't have xx feedback, or posts, or if you're not a supporter..."

This is ridiculous. Everyone here was a new guy at one time.

This specific thing I'm hearing from GOOD new members is this..."Why would I want to become a supporter if no one will make a deal with me?"

You guys are scaring GOOD members away with your cocky attitudes towards ALL of the new guys. Just because they're new HERE, doesn't mean they're new to guns, trading and such.

Stop being pricks to folk just because they are new here.

And stop with the "I'm not dealing with you if you're not a supporter." How about just showing them why it would benefit them to become one...
Im not reading your post until you reach at least 5,000, graduate to 6 stuffed animals or reach 200 fedback

Thank you leatherhead. I became a member because a couple buddies told me this was a good site and not just because of the deals. I was burned on websites a decade or more ago because of the know it all mentality that eventually ate the forums like a cancer so I watched this site for a while before joining. Once I did I tried to make some offers but felt like I was being shunned. On one of them before I could make an offer an established member posted a number that had nothing to do with the sale or purchase of that exact item. When I attempted to call him out on it I got the royal newbie treatment. So I became a supporter hoping that would make a difference. Shortly there after I saw another opportunity to pick up something that I had been wanting but it was only for members with 50 or more feedback. Until now I was starting to think that I had made a mistake.

Nah...brother you didn't...it's a great site with good people!! Don't let a few dumb posts and sell threads cause you to take off... Let the gun snobs or people trying to rip everyone off, do what they want...alot of people here just come enjoy the hobbies, share ideas, and make some good trades...everyone I've had the pleasure of meeting or dealt with, has been nothing but excellent....in a site this big, there is bound to be some tools, just keep clicking and move along....don't take anything personal either! Alot of us are smart @$$e$ or joke alot too!

Im happy to hear some of the good established members come out and say that they dont mind dealing with new folks...:thumb:

Now, gotta get the stubborn ones to stop restricting their ads to non-newbs.

Not that its been difficult. I just hate drama and won't deal with it. I guess I'm more of an actions type of guy.

Good for you bud...I guess I fighting for the guys who give up easily. Read a few ads for items they would be interested in, but cant because theyre not allowed to...then they hit the back button and find another site.
