Why You Always Carry and Be Aware of Your Surroundings

I totally agree. I was going to post that a having a gun is cool and all but if you turn around and you have a gun already pointed at you you're already at a disadvantage.

I told my wife this story and I was thinking how from now on I'll probably be leaving a few people stranded but she said what about us? There was a time when my battery died at Sonics and I needed a jump. I did approach a group of people and was able to get help but next time I might not be able to if everyone is so skeptical of the stranger. I guess we do what we can though.

I think we have established that the vast majority of our society is not very defensive minded so your biggest challenge would probably be finding someone courteous enough to help.
Assuming you & your family don't look very thug-like a more tactically minded person would probably profile you as pretty low-threat.:)

While I wouldn't say I'm completely oblivious to pretty women I view them (now) like an expensive sports car.

It might be fun for a while but let someone else make the payments & worry about the high maintenance... I'm not interested.

I am very happy w/ my daily driver.

LOL! GREAT Analogy!... :) ....mikey357

I may be insensitive, but this is partly why I just ignore people that ask for things like gas, jump, or a lift to somewhere. In today's society, its really not worth the risk.

Not at all. As soon as I can see someone coming while I am at the convenient store I tell em as soon as I see em I ain't got anything they want. Whether it's to help or not I don't do it just to not put myself in that situation. It's these idiots out here needing a "jump" to rob or kill someone that causes us to be as you say insensitive.

My parents told me today they were getting coffee at a conv. store in Chatsworth & a man came up & asked my father for a dollar .
He ignored him, got in his truck & left.

I wonder if the intent of the guy who asked for the dollar was to get my father to produce his wallet so that he could snatch it & run off? That's my best guess anyway. What can you do w/ a dollar nowdays? Not much.

If I see someone coming to ask me for money, I just ask them if they could spare some change.
Or answer in a different language.
Either one usually sends them packing.
