I actually had an office worker woman do that once, yes, plug her power strip into itself and then tell me her computer was dead and when was I going to fix it. As soon as I started telling her why it wouldn't she got red-faced and said, "But everything is plugged in!!"
I asked where the power strip was getting power from, and to point to that exact place and she got really confused. Of course the fix was easy, I just plugged it into the wall and got her computer booted. Thankfully by that time several other people were standing in the doorway to her office enjoying the techno-confusion. I have never missed working with her since then.
