WShats the big deal about guns in church?

I attend a church that sits in what once was a nice part of town. But, as development crept farther out to the 'burbs and urban decay sit in, the area is now pretty rough. We've had cars stolen from the lot during services, cars broken into, facilities broken into, etc.

The bigger issue has been that we've had several brushes with individuals that were up to no good and/or mentally disturbed, that clearly had intentions other than hearing the gospel or seeking assistance.

I said all that to say this: Church and religion tends to attract some loonies and some criminals that see churches as easy pickings. I think the ability to carry at church is a wonderful thing, and long over due.

If I couldnt walk up and talk to the preacher there aint no way I would set foot in the church.

I had never given this thought until I was at a men's conference a few years back and the pastor pulled up and was escorted in. At the time I found it odd. I'm just a ol boy from south ga that never considered with a congregation of thousands eventually it could be a safety issue.
