I guess every "assault rifle" in the world has assaulted someone at some point and time to earn them that name? didnt think so. But since you are so smart how would you describe a 22lr based off a ar-15 or various other assault type rifles?

Ahhh, I'd call it a ar15 chambered in 22lr unless I knew the specific model. Like those AK knock offs chambered in 22.
