Looking to purchase specifically a Simmons Aetec 3.8-12 X 44 (not the 2.8-10) rifle scope in excellent condition. Prefer the factory box/papers/caps/sunshade but not a deal breaker. Let me know if you have one and your sale price. Thanks.............

I hope you are talking about the old model and not the new master series crap. I find the old black box model 2104 on ebay from time to time..........just bought one new in box for 175 shipped. That is the most I have ever paid for one, as the price seems to keep going up as these become more and more hard to find. I own 6 of them now on assorted deer rifles. I have owned a 3-9x50 leupold vari-xII and a vxII, a 3-9x50 and a 4-12x50 nikon buckmasters, bushnell elites, Vortex crossfire and viper, and still own a 3-10x50 Zeiss Conquest and a couple of old Nitrex TR-1 scopes by Weaver . I bought all these trying to improve over the old 3.5-12x44AO aetecs I own. Guess what........the old black box aetecs beat all of them hands down in low light conditions, field of view and eye relief. I sold the Leupolds, Bushnells, Vortexes and Nikons but kept the Zeiss Conquest and Nitrex TR-1 3-9X50 scopes. (the Zeiss and Nitrex scopes came the closest to the Aetec in light gathering capability, field of view and eye relief and I admit that their glass is maybe a little clearer). All things considered, for around the 2-5 hundred buck range, I haven't found a scope that beats the old Aetec 2104 model, and it may not can be beat period, but I am not spending 1-2 thousand or more on any one scope to find out.
