Sgt. Maj. Francis Marion Thomason was a decorated World War I veteran buried in the Ball Ground Community Cemetery. Until April of this year, Sgt. Maj. Thomason did not have a gravestone. The Ball Ground Historical Society will have a dedication service for the newly installed marker on Tuesday, May 22nd at 6 pm at the cemetery. BGHS member Dan Warner will present information about the Sgt. Maj. and his military career. Dan’s wife and BGHS member Denise is a relative of Thomason.
Note this meeting will begin one hour earlier than our usual meeting time. And feel free to bring a chair.
Refreshments will be served at the end of the ceremony at the cemetery.
