I see where the author is going with this, and they are probably right that night sights don't bring a lot to the party in most cases. For 99% of the day it's either bright enough to see your sights clearly or to dark to shoot at a target without a some auxiliary illumination.

They really should call them "Twilight Sights" because to me that's when they are most useful.

In my situation... my bedroom is completely dark and my hallway dimly lit by nightlight in a wall socket down low, by the shins. If im looking from our bed, i can see down the hall about 75% of the distance. Without the glow of the night sights i couldnt see my sights, if a predator was standing in my hall which i could see by the night light.
Doubt it would ever work that way....but....
I figure i would never awaken to see someone in my hallway but who knows? More than likely i will either be awake already and hear them before they get to the hall or they would wake me by attacking me in my sleep. Lol.
Of course they could awaken me coming in the house and i could wait for them in a dark room/closet .....to where i could see my night sights, and the target since they will be in the dim light. Hmmmm.....too much to ponder.
I think i will keep my night sights at this point. Cant hurt.

Twilight sights is a good term. I also like what cmshoot cmshoot said here:

You're not going to see a predator unless he wants you to see him...
