I've got a cable channel that shows classics in HD. Don't know how they do it, unless they transfer from original films to digital somehow. Most of them are incredible to watch, because of the detail. The "Searchers" and "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance" were two I've seen on it, and they were great to watch. You could see the red check pattern in JW's shirt.That's one of my favorite movies. The scenery was great in The Searchers.
Don't know about "Jerimiah Johnson" being a "western", but if so, I'd throw in Charles Bronson's "Death Hunt", with Lee Marvin an Angie Dickinson..
