Pretty much what the title says, I'm wondering if you guys crimp your .223 cases if you're using them in an AR. I also wonder if the bullet has a cannelure, is it necessary to crimp?

It varies. Sometimes I do, sometimes it ain't necessary.

If the ammo ain't likely to see rough treatment and will be used soon, then usually not.

If it's for long term storage, gonna ride in my tool box or bounced around then I do.

I alway crimp any auto ammo..

load all my 223 and 308 on my dillon 550 so having the Lee factory crimp in the last station is a no brainer

to each his own but why take the chance on having a bullet pushed back into the case..

I have heard great things about that factory crimp die. (I even tried one once.)

Definitely the way to do it! Much better than trying to set up a seating/crimp die.

-Worth the extra step, IMO
