These 30mm cannons are amazing weapons, but those depleted uranium rounds are rather nasty... Some old rounds are from the 1970s too!

The U.S. military is looking into what it would take to dismantle and dispose of more than 35,000,000 rounds of ammunition with depleted uranium cores, predominantly 30mm shells for the iconic GAU-8/A Avenger cannon on the A-10 Warthog ground-attack aircraft. This comes more than a year after the U.S. Air Force revealed it was looking into the possibility of stopping using these controversial rounds for good.

So we care now that there's slightly higher rates of cancer in the countries we went to war with?

If that's what's so important, don't make us go to war with you.

About the only concern I could see here would be in training, and the armed forces are already getting crap about lead contamination on their ranges, so I'm guessing Uranium would be a problem.
