Has anyone seen the new Savage Hog Hunter? It's a new
product from Savage that's a true short action in 308 and
223 with a suppressor ready heavy 20 " barrel ,BUIS,oversized
bolt knob with accu-trigger in a green syn. stock with spongy
recoil pad.Best part,it comes wit a MSRP of $513.00 and a street
price of $419.00.To many good features at too good a price to pass
up so I got one to outfit with a Burris Fullfieid Tac II.Look forward
to giving it a workout tomorrow and will post results.I believe this
Would make a perfect reasonably priced hunting/ GSR (Guerrilla Sniper Rifle).
A very capable SHTF rifle able to make head shots@ 200 and body shots to 600.
Check them out if you get the chance, alot of gun for the money,400 pawn
still has one in 308 and 2 in 223,but I'd hurry

Barrel is much heavier than it appears in the picture,
also recoil pad on mine is thicker and very soft.Weight
is around 7.5 lbs by digital scales.I'm pleased with the
purchase.

Comes in .338 WIN too but .308 WIN is probably the round I would pick. A low power variable scope with quick detach just in case the optics were damaged to allow access to the irons, decent sling..... A detachable box magazine with a couple of spares would really make a sweet budget shooter.

Savage is known for making great accurate shooters for the money.

Well I promised a range report, although brief the rifle
did not disappoint,Once sighted in the hog hunter delivered
one.73" group,Then one .77" group with Hornady 168 BTHP
match.These were three shot groups @ 100 yards.Still very,very
pleased with this purchase.Although too much for me,one in
338 Win mag, would be like the poor man's version of the scout
sniper 338 Lapua LOL.If $$ permitted,I'd like to see what one could
do in that caliber at extended ranges with a good 250 gr. OTM

Saw one the other day at Basspro...been looking for a bolt rifle with iron sights. The guy behind the counter said they don't make bolt guns with iron sights anymore so I told him to turn around!

Let me know how it shoots.

Marcus

-Didn't see you already posted how it shot! Thanks.
