for those with actual experience as an owner/shooter, what is a reasonable 1-4x or so scope model that will stand up to the unique recoil?

4x? I think Elcans and acogs are perfect for a scar

Mount whatever back towards the stock. I have run a Mark 6 no issues. Currently I think there is a Trijicon 1x8 on it. No issues. Any platform with a large, heavy bolt carrier will make you need a good optic and good mount.

I have a trijicon 4x32. I also have a 13" barrel and a suppressor on it. It handles the recoil pretty well.

1-4 was not enough to make the weight worth it. I bumped up to 1-8 NF and it has been good.

due to age i guess, I can no longer focus on sights and target. I am a plinker and would like to be able see the target, so a 1-4 would suit me just fine.

Another one with a 4x ACOG. Got an RMR on top of the ACOG as well for that 1x.
