I've got one that I may consider trading. It's chambered in 9mm, has the ring hammer, serial number starting "T", and Browning's historian confirms it's from 1971. It's not the best cosmetic example, but it functions flawlessly (firing pin, firing pin spring and recoil spring have all been...
Managed to stay semi dry, but with the exception of spooking a few that were sleeping in the pine thicket between the road and the WMA property, I didn't see any sign of deer. Oh wait, I did almost step on the gut pile from one I heard shot over there on Sun AM. Getting really frustrated with...
Stayed out til 1 and called it a day. Going back in the morning to try again. Work is going to cut my season short so I'm trying my best to put a couple in the freezer while I can. Good luck to everyone else, and congrats to those who did well!!
Another lesson in the "school of hard knocks", no doubt. Sure hate to hear it though! You'd think at least there would be some respect between hunters, but this thread just further justifies my lack of trust of anyone that I don't know, and very few of those that I think I know.
Congrats MAK!!
Congrats!! I went out this morning and couldn't manage to scrounge up anything. Ate some lunch and went to the spot I wanted to go this morning (downfall of having to hunt a WMA). Still no luck, but it was my first trip out this year so I had a good time. Planning to stay out...
Yes. I can set it up with a switch to let me flip back and forth, and I've seen a kit to allow both at the same time, but not sure how well that would workout.
I've used a simple 2 wire dipole with some success, but nothing like the bigger antennas. It is fun to get out on basic equipment and minimal watts, but I like being able to get thru traffic, too. lol
Not a great pic, but my Antron99 is on my chimney with a chain link fence top rail that I cut to about 17' long (single piece). Planning to put the Tornado in the same spot, but changing the mast to conduit that I will reinforce with a smaller diameter pipe inside of it, and hopefully moving it...
Those Moonrakers are awesome. I'm trying to find a good spot to get my Gizmotchy 6x6 up in the air. A "few" watts thru this thing will let me talk all over the world ... and be HEARD!

And I'm not sure where you are in NW GA (FATKAT), but when you put up a base station, we'll probably be able to talk to one another. I'm in Kennesaw, just a couple miles west of I-75 and I can easily talk to locals as far...
My original 959 (pic with the green lights) came from Effingham Radio on Ebay. It was only tuned and aligned, and it does pretty well. The 959B came from Brian Smith of Truck's CB Sales. I had him"Truckerize" it, which is his full tune and alignment, plus open the clarifier for better SSB, and...
I'm attaching a link to the video that I used to start tanning. I was mainly interested in rabbits so I went with this process to keep the fur. Pretty easy to do, but I screwed up the first few so be prepared for that. One thing I'll point out is when it's hanging, don't let it get too dry...
