I think the AR platform is awsome, but i would go with a bolt gun to start. Just to much good stuff that comes from the a bolt gun. i agree completely on the build it together aspect too!
i think you should do something classic like the the Remington model 4 or the Steven's favorite. Single shot and something he would truly appreciate when he was older (especially if you refinished it together as he grows...)
Very true. I dont think that Remington would every truly disappear. As much as they provide a product there is a nostalgia that they own as well. I'm just saying, I think they might be right on that line of failing to develop the products that would keep them in the "forefront" of the game.
