If anyone's curious I went with the lathe. Precision Matthews 1022V. This should be plenty of lathe for the next few years. I appreciate everyones input.
I mean, I do get the sentiment. And I agree, but at the same time price will always play a part. I just can't justify dropping 3-5k for a machine just to realize in 6 months that machining/gunsmithing jsut isn't my thing. I've done that too many times where I go all in then end up selling...
Any thoughts on the littlemachineshop machines? I've also looked at the precision matthews, but they're a little high for my budget once you look at tooling and measuring.
I agree, and I plan to look into that in the future. I've got about 8 months of classes with SDI before graduating the certificate program. Not enough time to do both with work and family.
My idea was to look at entry level machines, and just start playing around on them. Maybe try a few small...
A little context.
I start the SDI gunsmithing course this month, and while diving down the youtube rabbit hole I started watching the Ultimate Reloader channel. Which led to his machining videos.

Or in my case, novice woodworker
So I spent an enjoyable afternoon cleaning and working on my future shop. It's in the third car garage, so I have it all to myself.
The first thing that I did was to build some cabinets for a base. The top of the workbench will be covered with laminate...
3-4 miles wouldnt be bad, Like I said it would mostly be for talking around the neighborhood during emergencies, or SHTF type scenarios.
Now I was looking online for reviews and such, and saw something on the export radios. They have more power it says, but it looks to me like they would be...
Okay, every time I drive home I stop at a Pilot gas station and check out their cb radios. Does anyone on here have any experience with the cobra 29LX model?
Have been researching communication ideas lately, and i'm interested to find out the basics of starting in Ham Radios. Just looking for a link or good starting point for my research. Most importantly start up prices, and how to start getting my licensing. Any Help would be appreciated.
