Went to the turkey rama last weekend. Everyone in the building was using a call all at the same time. It was over stimulating. There is no way anyone could tell if one was better than another.
This is sort of neat. I guess they are sneaking up on the turkey.
There is a lot of truth. My son and his buddies will get off the bus and hit the woods. One of the kids grandmother lives behind them and granny will cook them squirrel or whatever they clean.
I think the gram crowd does hurt hunting. I think kids see these monster farmed bucks and when they...
Pappy always said he had never known a deer to know what day it was. That deer will die just as good in March as it will in November if you are hungry. Also said a little salt and pepper will bring anything into season.
When I was a kid I scouted. I walked and found scapes and rubs and trails. I knew the terrain and made my best guess of what they would do. I didn’t have a camera. I didn’t have 300 bags of corn. I sat at an oak tree or persimmon tree and hoped for the best. I knew when the cows started stirring...
I would say yes. Go to our local high school and camo might as well be a school color. My son and his friends will strike out squirrel hunting in a heartbeat. Drive through any small town Saturday at lunch and there are as many Florida tags as there are Georgia.
I only shoot 5 shot groups at 100 yards when Im shooting my air weight J frame.
I normally shoot 3 round groups/patterns with my rifles. My sons 243 will shoot moa with Hornady whitetail 100 grain from a rest without buck fever involved. I hear of folks who take 600 yard shots on deer but I...
Ive considered having the 12ga Model 11 finished and having the 12 and 20 cut for chokes if that is an option. The 12 just needs a sight bead and a plug to be ready to go.
Update thread resurrection.
I am still missing dove with my dad's Model 11 20 gauge. I read in here that if you miss with 20 you will miss with a 12. I came here reading up thinking I should buy a 12 gauge after this Saturdays hunt. Of course Im always one to look for a hardware solution to a...
No doubt the 6.5 has kept tracking dogs busy the past few years. I think its because its the latest greatest low recoiling round so it is the one that many new hunters start out with. Those folks don't realize the limitations of the caliber. My son shoots deer regularly with a 243 and it does...
I dont know that many of the food kitchens will take wild game. Seems a little weird but no good deed goes unpunished and I guess there is liability involved. I say kill all the pigs you see because they destroy thousands of acres of crops each year and cost our farmers millions. Yes they are...
Where we hunt coyotes and pigs are a priority. We shoot deer because they eat crops. We shoot pigs because they destroy a crop. We shoot coyotes because they attack baby cows. Pigs and coyotes are how we thank my brother in law for opening up his farm to us
My dad has a deer butt mount. I think he bought it at a yard sale. It made for great conversation. I am now the proud owner it’s in storage.
I would think there would not be more than yard sale value on a mount of a deer one didn’t kill.
