They’re moving like crazy over here in north Paulding. I’ve been watching deer for 30 minutes graze, play, and spar in my neighbors pasture 20 yards over the property line.
Got home and took 3 pistol shots down to my plates at 70 yards. Not even 10 minutes after that I had deer moving around the property corner back behind the shooting range.
Now I’m sitting waiting to see if anybody wants to come back.
Went in early and only had to sit about 45 minutes for this guy. He’s a little smaller than I thought he was, I might have let him walk if I could do it again but he’s meet in the freezer.
Sometimes I wash with scent killer detergent and spray everything down with scent killer and pack it in my tote.
I have also killed deer wearing dirty clothes, eating flaming hot Cheetos, and peeing out the window of the box stand. Deer aren’t spooked as easy as people trying to sell you stuff...
I don’t think there is a deer left within 5 miles, but that’s ok with me because he wanted to come. We’ll sit for a little while longer and head back to the house.
Got my first ever archery kill, not including one with a crossbow a couple years ago. It is also the first deer I’ve taken from a property that I own. We’ve been in our new house for about a month and it was pretty cool to get one opening morning.
I took a little doe this morning just to start my first season bow hunting off right and put some meet in the freezer. First a momma doe walked in with a fawn, and I had already told myself I wasn’t going to shoot her, but a few minutes later this smaller doe walked in and I took that one.
I...
I missed a buck entirely down here in the fog this morning. Not a very good feeling, but I’m thankful I missed and didn’t leave him wounded or unrecovered.
168gr Amax because that is what I am zeroed with and the gun loves them, I’ve shot 1/4 MOA at 100 yards indoor from a rest...but I know that Amax is technically a hollow point ballistic tip target load that tends to act about like a frangible in a deer.
I shot that buck at 185 and I was...
I had a Doe slip past me at 8:40 this morning. I came out of the scope to put the range finder on it or make an adjustment and it stepped into the tree line it was heading for. Now I’m in a stand on the power lines where I killed a big 5 point, a year ago today.
Sitting here one last time before the storm.....in a stand that I helped stand back up 2 months ago because it blew over.
“I think we put new stakes in the ground”
“I’m about 305, I don’t think it would blow over with me in it”
“It’s not even that windy yet”
