My wife has had an EV for the last 8-9 years. Right now, she has a 2019 Nissian Leaf, one of the crappier EVs. She commuted from the burbs into Atlanta for many years with it. It is awesome and they are the future.
I drive a diesel truck. EVs can't replace that and may not be able to for a...
Thanks. couple more thoughts...
Like Tikker said, easy on the gas. You don't have to drive like a grandma, but kinda. Accelerate slowly. Hard to explain but you can kind of feel if you're getting good fuel to acceleration transfer.
From the first post question - You'd have to drive very close...
Vehicles are usually most efficient around 55mph.
- Wind resistance has an exponential drag effect. It's a much greater after 45mph. Windows up with AC on if going faster than 45mph.
- Cruise control is not efficient. You're better off slowing down a bit going up hills and letting gravity speed...
I don't see a problem, lol. When I was in Australia 10yrs ago, they had tons of vehicles like this. Way more common that pickup trucks. If you're not hauling anything heavy, it seems very practical to me. Just enough bed space to get stuff for a diy project or cart the kid's sports equip around...
While shopping for my current truck, I wanted a 1/2 ton with 4wd, the big engine, lower gears for towing, and the tow package. Guess how many I found in the greater NE Atlanta area. Just a few. I had to settle because I couldn't find all the options I wanted.
The lightning is going to be right...
Agreed. The L word is way overused.
The writing has been on the wall for over 20 years. Electric cars are a better system, the technology just needs to keep improving (no signs of it slowing down).
I'm guessing we'll see an inexpensive 1-2 person commuter vehicle as soon as battery tech gets a...
These things looks straight out of a sci-fi movie or video game. Wild times we're living in. I think they're ugly as hell but still pretty cool to see this stuff coming out.
Leaf was the best option when we bought ours a few years ago. I've heard they've been outpaced by the competition since then though. The tech literally changes/improves every year.
If you drive I-85, the Peachpass lane is free for electric vehicles.
The 220V charger we have at the house was $600 but we bought that many years ago. Quick scan through Amazon and looks like they might be half that now.
You just have to figure out if it's right for you. We did the math with...
Wife has had a Nissan Leaf for years. We're on our third one but that's not because of issues. They're great for a commuter. Never did a road trip with one. It's possible as stated above but it'd be a pain. Depends on the car, some have a pretty long range. The Leaf has a 150 mile range (as long...
spray in is going to be an easy winner here.
You just have to find someone that will do a good job. Some spray-ins are too thin. I wouldn't get it done at a dealer. Line-X in Lawrenceville always does a good job. He'll try to sell the UV upgrade, but it still fades after a couple years.
My wife had a couple Accords. Great cars. My buddy gave me crap for driving up in a 'rice burner' but sadly the Accord was more American made than his truck. The only problem we had was when selling the one that was a stick shift. Nobody wants them anymore apparently.
If you want to go all...
Yep, my wife's old Honda Accord was more American than the Dodge truck I drive.
As for the T6, it sounds like Ford will fill in the gap some here in the US. No real conspiracy here, just a different market.

Been there done that. I spent two weekends and hundreds of dollars on what turned out to be a $12 part. I decided a while ago that it's actually cheaper for me to have the pros work on my vehicles.
Actually, I think something rally car worthy would be cool. I don't always watch racing, but when I do, it's cars jumping over hills in the woods. :thumb:
I spent some time in Colorado (10yrs ago) and there were a ton of Audi's and Subarus in the mountains.
By "no chick cars" I thought you meant "manly". You're looking for something a little more metro? Just get a VW Bug. I think there's a man-card allowance for vintage cars.
I'd go for t-top instead of rag top. Just make sure it's a stick shift and the turns will be a blast in whatever. Here you go:
Car: $9500
Van Halen CD cassette: $10
Finder's Fee to Zesty: $489
Total: $9,999
