  1. I have some confusion about AR pistol laws

Thanks @JeffroJ . I had missed your edit. If I understand correctly the designation isn't so much important - call it a pistol or firearm or whatever but the main thing is that it isn't an SBR and does not need a $200 stamp. This whole thing is just silly. "Meant to be fired with one hand"...
  2. I have some confusion about AR pistol laws

I thought it was a pistol even if the OAL exceeds 26" until a VFG is added. After further reading I believe the AOW firearm designation applies only IF I add a VFG. Is that not correct? In that configuration it would be a legally designated pistol with a 29" OAL.
  3. I have some confusion about AR pistol laws

I have not asked if it is legal for me to own an AR pistol with a VFG.
  4. I have some confusion about AR pistol laws

    1) What does OAL length have to do with designation as a pistol? I thought a pistol was a barrel less than <16", or OAL <26", and that you don't need to comply with BOTH <16" AND <26" OAL. In an earlier thread regarding VFG's someone stated that a pistol with an OAL greater than 26.3" could...
  5. Question about story on AJC/WSB...

Discharging a BB gun is illegal in the City of Atlanta. That still doesn't make it a firearm. Same goes for shooting a bow and arrow in my backyard. I suspect this is the case in many other municipalities.
  6. FFL, selling, buying, trading

A hobbyist doesn't need a license, but selling and trading for profit requires an FFL. That said, I don't think there is anything about being a hobbyist that doesn't allow you to benefit on a trade when it supports your hobby. If your goal is to acquire a private arsenal then buy to your...
  7. So lets suppose...

Yes, we agree. When cops aren't doing the right thing, then something needs to be done to make sure the problem is remedied. Otherwise, they continue doing the wring thing becauyse they think their actions are proper. Next thing you know, the entire department is doing the same thing, for...
  8. So lets suppose...

I'm not going to get in any trouble. My original point was about an officer yanking a gun out of a vehicle to run the serial numbers without any justification. I was making the point that an officer should not have the right to take my rifle or shotgun from me if I am merely walking down the...
  9. So lets suppose...

I didn't say anything about walking in to a private business with the gun. I said walking around on the sidewalk, and you can pick the street to be as busy as you want. You don't have the right to detain and question me on it, no matter how odd or strange YOU might think it is because I...
  10. So lets suppose...

You have no right to detain and question me in regards to my intentions if I am walking around with my rifle. Plenty of officers would probably do so anyway, but they would be violating my rights. It is perfectly legal activity in GA. That's the point, so what's the difference between that...
  11. So lets suppose...

I would like to respectfully apologize in advance for my bad attitude on this, but come on. "If I had to stand in traffic so did they." That sounds reasonable - if you've got to be out endangering your life in a fund raising capacity for the State, you might as well endanger the lives of a...
  12. So lets suppose...

I am calling crap. "Reasonable and articularable" is just another way to say it is easy to make up some lie that nobody will ever be able to prove otherwise, just so that the officer can "justify" violating the rights of a private citizen. It's crossing the line. PERIOD. I doubt I know many...
  13. Vehicle searches

Haha...See what I mean? More insults while avoiding the topic. I will take your request to delete the evidence as an admission that you have lost the debate. Thank you, sir. I feel certain we can let this die, and I will even grant you one more response just you can feel like you got the...
  14. Vehicle searches

Your approach is typically liberal - you fire off the first subtle insinuation about a person's character and then you cry foul when the response is to point out an astonishing lack of reading and comprehension. Then you ignore the points presented and repeat the same inane argument while...
  15. Vehicle searches

Wow. You have missed a crucial concept of our system of government. The Constitution is there to protect us from the Government, NOT to provide you the right to just do whatever you want against the wishes of a private citizen on their private property, The Constitution says a whole bunch of...
  16. Vehicle searches

My preferences...my rights - they are one and the same when it comes to who can bring what on to MY property. I don't particularly want or feel the need to have other people bring guns in to my business. I've got plenty on hand already, thank you. That is my right and my preference. Carry...
  17. Vehicle searches

Your personal rights do not supercede my rights as the owner of the business, property, etc. You do not have the the right to use one of your rights to run roughshod over my property or preferences. This is similar to the idea that the alleged "right to healthcare" would allow someone to force...
  18. So lets suppose...

So visible evidence of a firearm is justification for search and seizure? That must be the case if it is within the officers rights to enter the vehicle, take the firearm, and then run the numbers. If it is leagal for me to carry a firearm in an open manner in my vehicle, then what about that...
  19. Question about story on AJC/WSB...

I'd be willing to bet what's left of the dozen donuts I picked up this morning that an air rifle is not considered a firearm. I also didn't see in the story where the guy is a convicted felon, but I might have missed it. I will admit I was generally assuming that to be the case, but...
  20. Question about story on AJC/WSB...

This is supposed to be a link to a WSB video I saw on AJC.com. The story starts out with the broadcaster saying what a bizarre answer the defendant gave the judge. He was seen carrying a BB gun in public, apparently "near" a school. How does the law work on this? A BB gun isn't even a...
