I would contact John Monroe if I were your friend.
He is GA2A's lead counsel, and the number 1 lawyer in Georgia and several other states, as far as firearms law is concerned.

I would doubt very seriously you will get an accurate legal answer on this forum.

To bring this thread up to date....
My GWCL expired in January, so that also meant my "permission letter" from the ACoE also expired on the same date.
After I renewed my GWCL I went ahead and sent another letter to the ACoE, Mobile District. The letter was sent in the mail 02/27/23.
Today I...
I don't have access to ChatGPT, but I would be curious what it has to say about Georgia's reduced training requirements.
How did the new law "reduce" them, and what are they now?
I'm sure this is an old website, but right off the bat they have bad info on the site.
It states in the first set of "rules", that "open carry is valid only with a permit".
And then states "concealed carry" is allowed in state parks. It's not "concealed carry", it's just "carry".
Jerry
You are correct, and that is what I teach in classes.
That's why I was trying to get the OP and others to stop saying "concealed carry permit".
There is no such thing in Georgia.
I've been a Life Member of GA2A for many, many years. Formerly GCO.
Anyway, you are correct. The Georgia...
I understand what you are saying, and you and I both know exactly what you mean, BUT, there is no such thing as a "concealed weapons permit" in Georgia.
Those words do not exist in O.C.G.A.
It is a Georgia Weapons Carry License. Other states call it a Concealed Weapons License. Some call...
"Constitutional carry is the current law, but that does not mean anybody, at any age, can carry a firearm, under all conditions. All that changed was the ability for those that meet the carry laws, to be able to do so without a GWCL.
You may want to study up a little more on Georgia's carry laws.
There is no such thing as a "concealed carry permit", but more importantly, verify the ages to carry a handgun, under most situations, in Georgia.
In Georgia it is a Georgia Weapons License.
It does not work this way. If you are a Georgia resident, you must have a Georgia Weapons Carry License.
Out of state License is still good, but not for carry in Georgia if you are a resident.
All Georgia State Parks, except those leased from the Army Corp of Engineers, are legal for carry. That is assuming you have a valid GWCL and are legal to carry.
I carry there all the time.
You will have no problems as long as you carry legally.
Jerry
There are only 4 conditions in which you can carry without a GWCL.
O.C.G.A. 16-11-126(a)
(a) Any person who is not prohibited by law from possessing a handgun or long gun may have or carry on his or her person a weapon or long gun on his or her property or inside his or her home, motor...
Unless, God forbid, she has to use it one day.
Then some over-zealous District Attorney starts asking a bunch of questions. Then your mom mentions she got it from her son. Oh yea, he lives over in Georgia.
Great, now on top of the shooting, lets investigate this and see if we can charge you...
This is the best course of action. I transferred a new Glock to my daughter in Alabama last week. The receiving FFL only charged me $15.00 to receive from me and transfer to her.
Now we have no concerns about how it crossed state lines.
Jerry
I am not aware of any laws in Georgia that state how many, or put a limit, on the amount of firearms you can carry.
It is not in O.C.G.A. anywhere that I know of, and it is not something that I have ever heard anybody at GCO or any of our legislators talk about.
It is not written in the laws...
The reason an 18 year old can carry in their motor vehicle is because O.C.G.A. 16-11-126 (a) says they can. Not because of any "extension of home" verbiage.
(a) Any person who is not prohibited by law from possessing a handgun or long gun may have or carry on his or her person a weapon or...
Here is an actual discussion from US Law Shield. And this info specifically talks about Georgia and out of state inheritance.

Here is a quoted section from a website discussing this matter. As you can tell, there are several state law involved, so he needs to make sure that all the laws in all the states are followed.
Turning to federal law, where one might expect to find a prohibition, we find that 18 U.S. Code §...
