Got this awhile ago, just getting around to putting a scope on it and shoot it next week. Old M77 in 22-250. I'd seen one of these before, in 308, but did not manage to snag it. Does anybody know anything about these? The stock seems too well fitted to be aftermarket, maybe a dealer exclusive...
I love the old sporters. It was all Enfields where I grew up until the mid to late 80's. That and Phillipine made 22's.
The pro shooters had Sako's or Tikkas in 222 remington, and there was the very occasional person with money who had a Winchester lever or Model 70 and maybe a BRNO Model 2...
Awesome gun. Put a cheek piece on it, get a scope mount for it. Perfection.

Have been using a CZ 455 Scout/Youth size that I haven't given my son yet. Found a slip on recoil pad that fit it to increase the LOP. It's perfect, so accurate too.
Love the straight grip on those things.
Was looking at the CB model in 45/70 a few years ago at a Sportsmans Warehouse in another state, looked at a few of them and every single one was jacked up in some way, loose fore-ends or wood on the grip raised over the adjoining metal. Straight grip...
I guess the next poll should be how much are your guns worth.
There'd be people on here with 20 guns worth 6000$ in total, while someone else is going to have 20 guns worth 40000$.
Funny the 444 been mentioned a few times. Had a 45/70 Marlin that I did not mind shooting, but the 444 Marlin I got after that hurt. Got a H&R Handi rifle in 444 around the same time, still have it because it was nicer to shoot than the Marlin.
Shoulder is gone, so I've got an old 22-250 I'll be using this year. My bad weather gun is normally a handi rifle in 444, not even thinking about that. Thinking about getting a Howa in 6.5 Grendel setup, and then it will be there for the boy next year.
Theres been FIE Titan drought for a few weeks on ODT. Ended up caving in an getting a little Beretta 25acp, spending more than 2x what I was planning to do. Might still snag the next one to pop up if a H&R 32 mag doesn't pop up first.
Just posted a No3 in 223 in the classifieds. Got it for my son as his first centrefire, but he's skipped straight over that and taken over a nice little, Ruger, 22-250 I have. So zero sentimental attachment, and I'll be buying another Ruger with the proceeds. Actually already bought the new...
Had a couple months of recovery with shoulder problem that had me not being able to hold a gun in my preferred hand. Dug a Ruger LCR with laser that I'd got for my wife a few years ago out of the safe, she didn't like it. Shot it loaded with 38's at the range. Better than a sharp stick, was...
I'd get one or two out of the calibres you have listed. 308 for sure in a handier length barrel and then one of the long actions in a 24inch+ barrel. Then I'd get two smaller ones, a nice 22 and a 22-250 or 243. Then I'd get a boomer for the 5th.
More opinion than option, if I was getting five...
Growing up it all people had were sporterized Lee Enfields in 303 or 303/25, and this was the early 80's even. For the little stuff it was all Phillipine made 22lr rifles bolt or semi auto. Sterlings mostly. And then you'd go to the range before a trip and someone would have a Model 70 or a Rem...
Thats what I want to get my Ruger No3 in 223 turned into. Got it for my son, he's not into it, I love carrying the thing around, just want a calibre boost (taken over his CZ Scout as well, put a slip on recoil pad on it for LOP).
At a guess I'd go for a new barrel so I could return it to...
Got to send a few rounds down range with a 35 Whelen that had been converted by JES. Owner had bought it off of JES through GB. Said it was as acurate as anything he had. From that conversation and a bit of research I've still got an old Rem 760 I bought sitting in the safe that I've never got...
