Hogue and many others do make grips for it. It's the XR3 RED gripframe used on old and new model Blackhawks, Single-Sixes, and the original Vaquero (not New Vaquero). Original grips can be found on ebay and aren't too expensive but you may find some aftermarket grips that are more comfortable to...
If it has the ears around the rear sight it is the large frame. Large frames also have a 2 digit serial number prefix.
Medium frames (flattop Blackhawks and New Vaqueros) have a 3 digit serial number prefix.
One of the dealers at the Lawrenceville gun show today had several of those 64's priced at $349. There must be a big LE department somewhere that is getting rid of them.
FBI statistics say that a 357 is best for a one shot stop.
I have talked with many military vets but never heard one say anything bad about the stopping power of the 45.
Pick the one that you shoot the best.
I would pick the 357 for hunting and the 45 for self defense.
Do any of you have experience using a Chipmunk/Crickett/Rascal type of mini rifle? Is it practical for an adult to use one or are they strictly for kids?
Since there is only 3/4" difference between those barrel lengths, there isn't much difference in how they feel and shoot. I prefer the 4 3/4" because of the appearance as much as anything.
A single action with the 7 1/2" barrel is another matter. I can shoot it with a lot more accuracy than a...
A friend of mine owned one of those. He bought it from Sears in the 1970's. I remember seeing some of them for sale at the Sears liquidation store in Doraville back in the mid or late 70's. They are excellent shotguns and any gunsmith familiar with the Winchester 101 can repair it if ever needed.
I can introduce you to a man who has been walking with a limp for the past 46 years because he loaded 6 in a SA revolver.
He will tell you that he is lucky to be alive.
I've been carrying and shooting SA's for 54 years and I'll only load 6 in New Model Rugers.
The first gun show that I attended was in a downtown Atlanta hotel over 50 years ago. Probably a Georgia Arms Collectors Assn. show. Back then most or all exhibitors were collectors. I don't recall seeing retail gun dealers at Georgia shows until the 1980's and even then the collectors vastly...
So why don't we do it? Let's pick a show and a date when ODT members rent some tables. Let other members know we'll be there.
The naysayers and whiners can stay home.
