I have a couple of sets of ivory blanks...one set for a 1911 and one set for a Colt Model 1849 revolver.
I bought them years ago from Nutmeg Sports and I have the receipts. I also bought a set of once-fitted Colt SAA ivory stocks.

Allen Herd is a detective in Dallas GA. I found him through the Colt forum. He is an expert on old percussion revolvers and can repair them as well. As I recall he has worked for or as a consultant to major firearms museums. aherd@dallas-ga.gov
Which branch of service was he? "Swift & Accurate" was also associated with the Signal Corps...referring to getting battlefield intelligence swiftly and accurately.
