Any markings on the cylinder face? This may not be a Fagnus, as it has a safety latch. German revolvers of this time tended to employ those. Interesting piece. Is it for sale?

Italian Vetterli 70/87/15 marked AOI. 'Africa Oriental Italiana' (Italian East Africa) these were rifles supplied to Italian Colonial troops after WW1. Used during the second. If your friend is interested in selling it, let me know.
Post-war Fazackerley (F) manufacture, the MK2 designation differs from the MK1 in that on the MK2 the trigger is fitted to the receiver as opposed to the trigger guard.
