    I would say a sporterized Czech or Romanian Mauser over Swedish. 6.5 Swede would probably be kept 6.5. 270 is basically a necked down 30.06 which is similar to an 8mm. I had a bolt with a crown and it came from a VZ 24 Mauser.

    My first rifle, other than a 22 was a Golden State Arms 303. Beautiful walnut stocked sporter. Yours looks pretty nice. Leave it 303.

    "Do a little research into the 7.62x54r conversions". What value would that be except for round cost? Bubbaizing an already bubbized rifle.

    I would guess 8mm. 10,000,000 Russians died, 3,500,000 Germans in WW II. Every German rifle was 8mm. I believe they had 8mm in WW I also.

    We used to put our stripped M-14's under VERY hot water and clean them that way first.
