When we lived down there we would walk the pier in St Simons or on Driftwood at Jekyll and it was always funny to me that there would be at leat ine pelican perched on the railing waiting on whatever you reeled in and didn't want.
I don't 3the first thing about fishing but as I recall folks...
Well I'm fittiin' to head on into Brummick and git me a magnet and some rope. Then we will find out what salt water does to knives, pliers,Zebco reels etc.
Were you around Macon in the 80s and early 90s? If so you might remember the little light blue index sized cards that gun and pawn shops used to have to fill out on each sale along with the 4473. Those cards went straight to the Macon PD and basically were registration cards. Some time around...
That's the same one I was talking about. Although I had no idea it was rated that strong. I think ideally you want a strong magnet but no so strong you can't get it free from any I beams or bridge supports if it sticks to them.
I was just about to suggest a trip to Harbor Freight. They have one that I looked at for the same purpose that I rectangular a little bigger than a chalk board eraser and already has a metal ring attached to the back.
I first thought about magnet fishing before we moved down here to Darien...
To be honest I don't like Tybee. It reminds me of Daytona or Panama City. Too touristy with parking meters EVERYWHERE! Seriously, the last time I was there even the Arbys parking lot had them. And the local PD takes pics of all the tags coming onto the island. My wife's niece got a ticket there...
Yeah what he said. Shelman Bluff is just above us north of Darien but right off Hwy 17. It's a serious fishing town. And if you do come down to Darien PM me ahead of time and I'll find out who is the go to guide around here.
Oh hell yeah! I want a house boat SOOOO.... Bad. Its kinda like a short single wide sitting on a barge. There was two of them at the Blessing yesterday. Chicks in the front and chicks on the roof. Its like Talladega on a boat.
Well I guess it is technically a boat.:becky: But seriously while I was on the bridge watching the Blessing of the Fleet yesterday I looked at my wife and said " Hey, where's MY boat?" And she responded with " Where's my house, asshole?" Touché.
I know almost nothing about fishing. But I do know that there's some real serious salt water fishing going on right up Hwy 17 at Shellman Bluff. First time we drove through there I was amazed at the 30 year old double/single wides with $50K boats parked in front of them. They have a full service...
I saw an old faded version of that in front of a house on the Torras Causeway that goes to St.Simons not long ago. There's also another very similar one here in Darien sitting in the dirt in a front yard near the river walk. Too bad there ain't a market for junk boats. I could get rich down...
My wife's niece got a ticket on Tybee last month for having a flat tire in a parking lot. To ME Tybee sucks ass! It's like little Daytona where they're all out to get you. I delivered some black bamboo plants down there about 2 years ago and was shocked at how touristy and tacky it's gotten. So...
I have to say the between B&Js and Skippers down on the Darien River I'll go with Skipper's. B&Js stays packed damn near every day. But it's all fried buffet food. We still need to checkout Mudcat Charlie's out on the marsh close to the Glynn Co line. And we found a tiny spot that's more screen...
There's the Mayor of St. Simons. That's the pier at Jekyll. When you're on it you're looking right across at the beach side of St. Simons. I saw this in the parking lot beside the pier and bait store and couldn't resist taking a pic. I mean when was the last time you saw a Sunbird like this...
We drove out to the Blue and Hall marina a few months back. We live just a few miles from there. And about two weekends back we drove back up 17 to Shellman Bluff. Now if you wanna talk about a whole town dedicated to fishing then Shellman is it.
But yeah the pier on Jekyll is way back around by...
Last time I was on that pier I was face to face with a big ass pelican that wasn't scared a bit. In fact one of the guys fishing there told me most folks called him the Mayor.
Anyway, I will head towards Jekyll and St Simons by the weekend. I will ask around about the shark fishing. Never done...
Let me know when y'all get here. I'm one County north in Darien. Fishing is ALL there is in this town except for the Cypress Lounge which has to be my favorite dive bar of all time.
