  1. Need gunsmith to remove squib from Wilson Combat 1911 barrel

Bullet was lodged about 1/3 of the way into the barrel. I put Kroil in from the chamber end and also drove the bullet back toward the chamber since that was the path it had already gone down.
  2. Need gunsmith to remove squib from Wilson Combat 1911 barrel

Big thanks to all the great advice sent! So I used this aluminum rod (actually think it was given to me by a gunsmith years ago). Set up a jig with wood block to set the barrel on and wood shims in the vice to hold the barrel secure. I had added CLP before but went with Kroil this time. Put the...
  3. Need gunsmith to remove squib from Wilson Combat 1911 barrel

I appreciate all the helpful comments from folks on here.....other comments?.....hey its ODT!
  4. Need gunsmith to remove squib from Wilson Combat 1911 barrel

I have an aluminum rod with a couple wraps of electrical tape that fits nicely in the barrel. Ok to use it instead of the brass rod??
  5. Need gunsmith to remove squib from Wilson Combat 1911 barrel

My thoughts exactly! Don't mind paying to have it done CORRECTLY.
  6. Need gunsmith to remove squib from Wilson Combat 1911 barrel

No bulge. I knew something was amiss and unloaded the gun so no second round into the squib. Drive it from the chamber toward the muzzle? Just don't want to FU a fine shooter.
  7. Need gunsmith to remove squib from Wilson Combat 1911 barrel

About half the u tube videos warn that the dowel can split and then you have a dowel and bullet stuck. I tried using the dowel and it wouldn't budge. Wilson Combat tolerances I guess.
  8. Need gunsmith to remove squib from Wilson Combat 1911 barrel

I have a nice Wilson Combat 1911 with a squib almost half way down the barrel. Looking for a competent gunsmith in Gainesville, Buford, NE GA area to CORRECTLY remove it. I know there are u tube videos on using a brass rod, dowel rod, etc but I don't want to take a chance on messing up such a...
  9. Need gunsmith in Gainesville/Buford to cut, crown, thread mosin nagant

I have a Mosin Nagant I installed in an arch angel stock and am looking to get 12 inches taken off the barrel, recrowned and threaded for a muzzle brake. I have a scope tapped and installed so no need for the front sight. Decided to make this rifle slick since I have lots of "cheap" surplus...
  10. Need gunsmith for A5 shotgun choke tube install

    Thanks for the suggestion!
  11. Need gunsmith for A5 shotgun choke tube install

Any recommendations for a gunsmith in the Gainesville GA area to remove a lyman cutts choke (yuck) from a browning A5 light 20 and install removable external choke tubes? Barrel has been shortened for the poly choke so looking to make a skeet barrel with IC or skeet chokes. Thanks for the response!
  12. Anyone else been burned by "Hogleg Smith"?

My intention has never been to attack or ridicule "hogleg". As I stated earlier, personally, I like the fellow. But the experience I had was awful and I honestly felt folks should know. Imagine that you took a perfectly good running car to a mechanic, gave him a set of new plugs and distributor...
  13. Anyone else been burned by "Hogleg Smith"?

I appreciate the comments and agree with them. However, I am aware he has man hours involved and will take a loss between the resale of the "repaired at his expense" one and a new one....his mistake will cost him some $$ too so I can live with the $105 out of pocket and chalk it up to lessons...
  14. Anyone else been burned by "Hogleg Smith"?

For those folks following the saga...... I took the statement I received from Sig Sauer detailing the damage and repair costs to Hogleg today and he said to return the 938 to him, as is and he will replace it with a new one for me. Cannot argue with that offer. I am still out the $105 to Sig...
  15. Anyone else been burned by "Hogleg Smith"?

Thanks for all the comments. Simply want folks to know....beware of this guy. I am going to get Sig to write the letter to document the damage and the repair cost and present him with the bill. See how he handles that. I expect him to say...."sorry" and nothing else. In which case I suck it up...
  16. Anyone else been burned by "Hogleg Smith"?

Just got the word from Sig Sauer gunsmith about the P938....Going to cost me $250 for a NEW FRAME. Hogleg botched up the trigger pin and internals badly enough they cannot repair it. Gunsmith said the work done on it was a real "hack job"....his words. I took Hogleg a brand new gun and now it...

  18. Anyone else been burned by "Hogleg Smith"?

Sounds like he has done good work for a lot of folks especially the "cowboy guns". It also sounds like a lot of folks have had a bad experience, myself included, trusting him with our firearms. As I mentioned earlier, I personally like the fellow, just don't like how he handled business with me...
  19. Anyone else been burned by "Hogleg Smith"?

OK...now I am "vindictive"...wow....daninga...Sorry to say but.....you are the one with a problem. Most of the other OD members here get IT but you obviously have some cozy relationship with Neal so you want to bad mouth me instead of seeing the real story here.... Folks need to know this guy is...
