Round two is complete. From looking at what originally came off the styrofoam, I believe S&W used sheet flocking for the top and spray in on the inlet areas. Let it set overnight and see how this round took.
After letting it dry for 15 hours I shook off the excess. Styrofoam has some light spots where there wasn’t enough paint or some type of chemical was present. Looks like I will need more paint and a second round. Directions says of your not happy to just add more adhesive/paint and reflock.
After painting the styrofoam I used the flocker and applied the material very liberally. The kit contains enough flock to do at least 2-3 kits. The paint will only do one if I had to guess. I put it on thick to cover the styrofoam.
I did shake it off a little after applying just before...
I ordered my kit off Amazon. I also ordered the mini flocker from there. I believe after shipping I have around $50 in the kit. Cheaper than the reproduction liners that run $150 after shipping.
The flocking kits comes with paint that is color matched to the flocking and is used as the base...
With the help of a soft bristled style paint brush. I have removed all the flocking. Imperfections in the styrofoam can now be seen. From my understanding these were around 1970 time frame. If that’s true than the fact it’s still one piece is amazing enough.
I watched a few YouTube videos...
I had this case that needed to be redone. It’s original in the styrofoam molding. The flocking is in horrible shape. Comes off with every touch. So redoing it isn’t going to hurt the value in my opinion because right it is not suitable to have gun in sit inside.
I am an amateur and have...
Most trophy shops have the ability to engrave. If your worried about the finish just tough up the area with some paint color of your choice or cold blueing
I was looking at using them on the side of the trigger bows. Side of the sear. Something large enough to keep it on that would be flat. Seen a lot of video with jig and fixtures and small stones.
Seen a lot of folks just using sandpaper also. I am aware of the tolerances etc that must be...
So I saw these, kit comes with a 400,1k,3k,8k stones. Wondering if those experienced would find this set up suitable for doing a trigger job on a 1911 by hand.
Main goal will be basically deburring and polishing for a smoother pull
@BLIP the Lichtenberg process has always amazed me. I am 50/50 on it though. Pattern is looks good. But is just seems rather deep compared to what I have seen. That being said every wood burns and or conducts differently. So I am sure you know it will be trial and error with types of...
