I have one in 30.06 my father had. They have a bad rep but love mine and it has killed a tractor trailer load of deer over the years.
If it's cleaned and lubed, chamber included, most of the time it's mag related. Might have to gently tweek the feed lips to reduce the drag on the bolt loading...
Try bumping the muzzle straight down on a firm surface such as a board covered with a towel while having the trigger pulled. Should jar the hammer back fwd.
I cut a quad rail down and used a cutoff wheel on a die grinder. Filed down smooth with a fine cut file and touched up with some flat black stove paint I had. Turned out nice.
