Shot my first deer since 2022. I thought he was bigger when I pulled the trigger but still proud of him. I shot him with my wife's grandfather's rifle that he left me when he passed away summer of 2023. Made me tear up a little bit. Sure do miss him and I know be played a part in taking this buck. First ever deer on "opening day".

It was beautiful morning in north hall county, decided to give the .222 a chance, 80 yard shot, straight through lung shot. She ran 20 feet and dropped.

That young buck was dumb as a box of rocks. Loud moving through the woods. He looked at me a dozen times. Couldn't make up his mind about how scared he should be.

3 of us hunted the property this morning and no one saw a thing. Heard 3 shots (2 from same person across the street). When I went by the cooler it was quiet for an opening day. It looked like someone was behind us in the woods with a flashlight it was so bright. I think I will give it a couple more days before I head back down.

I've had deer in my backyard last two days. No need to go anywhere. Wife says different. If we needed the meat, it would be different
