10/22 Porn

since you guys are all into the 10/22 is there a good way to stone or clean up the triggers on the rifles without going thru someone like brimstone or something? Since I have a couple of them it would be nice to buy a fixture or something and see if I can fix them up myself. Anything like that out there, or just send it off and spend the money?

something like this:

(if you look there's a 10/22 complete fixture for $160, and for about $25 you can add additional pistol/rifle adapters...)

I just LOVE Christmas, no matter when it comes!

I measured the factory trigger in my new 10/22 build shown above and was not a bit surprised to find the average pull to be over 7 lbs. Average was 7 lb. 10 oz. to be exact. That's a load by any standards... so I decided to take it apart and put the hand file and dremel to work. After a lot of fine filing, I was able to get it down to an average of 3 lb. 8 oz. which is much, much better than it was before, but not quite where I want it to be.

Since I got it all back together, I'll wait another few days and a couple hundred rounds to give it another adjustment on the trigger. I want to stay completely Ruger on the components if I can help it. I think after one more filing and buffing session I should be able to achieve the 2 lb. pull that I'm after.

In spite of the heavy pull, this thing is a dream to shoot. My pistol too, for that matter. I put 10 rounds out of each into a dime-size hole today and it's only going to get better as I keep tweaking both. I actually put a riser on the pistol to get the sight up higher, so the group is a bit low, but it's still right on the money!
