The stock comes with two tops. One is the standard size and the other has the higher cheek piece riser. I will probably swap back to the lower piece rather than put a riser on the Venom.

That's pretty slick. Great compact set up for a car/backpack small game set up. Love it.

I have 2 10/22 takedowns with the backpacker stock, both are kept in the bugout bags in our cars with a 25 round mag each and 100 rounds, in addition to the 3 10 rd mag in the stock.

I know the .22lr isn't the best self-defense round but it will do the job if needed.

I talked to a cop that said every shooting he’s investigated that involved a .22 Shot out of a rifle was a homicide. He also said that most of the fatalities were rather quick. Pistols are a different story but out of a rifle? I’ll roll with that.

I did make some other upgrades like changing our the extractor and the bolt locking mechanism. Now, whenever I use the 25 round mag I get failures on the first few rounds and small shavings taken out of the bullets that fail, specifically 36g CCI HP. It doesn't happen as much with the 10 rd mags and the 40 g CCI FMJ. I think I need to just put more types of ammo through it to see what it likes. It also could be the 25 rd mags and their loose seating in the mag well having an effect on the first few rounds not feeding properly.

I commonly have issues with he first 3-5 rounds out of BX25's.. Never an issue with the 15's or 10's.. Must be the spring tension or something but I have not spent a lot of time trying to diagnose. Some of my 25's run perfectly but not all..

BX-25's are basically useless IMO unless you just want 25 single-fire shots handy. You have to baby them to get the first 5 or 6 rounds to feed with ANY ammo. Might as well just use the BX-15 and figure on a reload halfway through each round.

Yes, I have done ALL the magic mods to my BX-25's and they still aren't worth a hoot no matter what ammo I used. Things are just too loosy-goosy in there to present the next round properly when the spring coil is too far extended. I'm still working on custom mods, but only because I want to.
