We'll be eating back strap soon
shot a mature Doe this morning, I was aiming for where the ear meets the skull, the shot is lower than I like (she moved as I pulled the trigger, that's my story)

I've been hunting since 13 Sept, have seen many deer in the thick stuff but out of range for bow & muzzle loader
even though rifle season is in I decided to stick with the muzzle loader until I got one, now to spend a couple hours cleaning it and put it away till next year

Now it's center-fire time
NOTE: when you age venison in a fridge be sure to put a fan in there that runs 24/7 to circulate the air (I got a battery fan made for a fridge) the meat needs to be sitting on a wire rack not a solid shelf, I let the meat sit for 10 days and turn the meat every day

Thanks, open sights and less than 50 yards
now I could not have made that shot if I had not got my cataracts taken care of
got the Toric Lenses, now I can see better than when I was a kid

Wise choice. I did the same thing. Doc says I got 20/15 vision now. Archery season has been a blast this year. No more nodding my head up and down trying to interpolate the target and the sight.

Congrats on a nice doe.

I had that vision a long time. Can't stand non clarity, being 20/20. it may have been as good as 20/10 at one time. It was like having a rifle scope for an eyeball. Had cataract surgery on my left years ago. Went from legally blind to decent sight. So I know when I get my right done, it'll be good for a while

Well my 12 year old Daughter made it happen this evening. I left her on powerline while I talked to landowner right above her. We heard her shoot and and she called me all tore up. She shot the doe and said I want to wait a few more minutes and 10 minutes later this 8pt came out and she popped it to. She was really excited and her biggest buck to date. She shot them with my Tikka T3x 300 win mag . She even wanted to keep the shells 😂
