11/23 Deer Hunt

Congratulations! Looks like she was about to deliver a new batch of destructive little offspring.
You cleaned quite a few off the land if so. Good riddance I say.

Actually got 2. The other was just the same. There was about 10 of em plus piglets. Gut shot the second on a quick follow up. Couldnt find the blood trail but it expired somewhere in the thickets shortly thereafter I am sure.

Made a bad shot on a decent size 8 point at around 200 yards. Tracked with a dog for almost 2 1/2 hours and we could not find it. Going to go look for it one more time this morning, but I doubt the dog will be much help today after it rained all night.

Aw man. Hate it for ya. That is a frustrating evening. Usually I say you'll probably find it 5 yards from where you thought it would be but if you had a dog out and it couldnt find it I doubt it. Best of luck finding it this morning.

That's a hard one. All you can do is stick with it until you're absolutely sure the deer can't be found.

No luck finding the buck from last night. Blood trail was washed away by the rain and we got to a point where we weren't sure which direction he went. Either across a large open field or across a large unpicked cotton field.

I'm pretty sure I pulled the shot about the same time I squeezed the trigger and must not have hit anything vital. We tracked him somewhere between 300-400 yards last night and blood trail was never heavy or consistent and there were no indications that he ever stopped or layed down to that point. We were never able to find blood past there and the tracking dog starting going in circles. I hate having to give up and not recover an animal I wounded, but we got to the point where we really didnt know which way to look anymore.
