No luck finding the buck from last night. Blood trail was washed away by the rain and we got to a point where we weren't sure which direction he went. Either across a large open field or across a large unpicked cotton field.
I'm pretty sure I pulled the shot about the same time I squeezed the trigger and must not have hit anything vital. We tracked him somewhere between 300-400 yards last night and blood trail was never heavy or consistent and there were no indications that he ever stopped or layed down to that point. We were never able to find blood past there and the tracking dog starting going in circles. I hate having to give up and not recover an animal I wounded, but we got to the point where we really didnt know which way to look anymore.
It sucks but it happens. Anyone that has hunted enough has been through it. You did the right thing putting the effort in.
