If he's 12 and in the 7th grade...there should be a high-school feeder team where he could play. He'd mop up the kids at the pee-wee level...would probably mop up the 7th graders as well!

That's pretty much the rule everywhere that I know of. Kids in the seventh grade must play jv football on a school team and the sixth graders who get cut from the school team are allowed to play ball for the recreational teams. It really is about his age and grade as opposed to his size. The city has to have an age cut off at some point. Yes its football and its a contact sport but you better believe mommy and daddy will sue your ### off it their is a seventh grader on a rec team who has just broke little johnnys arm. Why would some dumb parent want their kid to play rec ball with kids in lower grades and smaller kids anyway? These are the same lame #ss parents who started giving every kid who played ball a trophy instead of just the team who won the championship. Suit him up for jv ball where he belongs, he will have to learn lifes lessons just like all the other 7th graders.
