I am trying to decide which is a better investment on some rare Colt 1911's I came across, a .38 Super version or the .45 ACP version of the same model. I of course can't buy both so was hoping to get opinions from my ODT family out there.

For long term investment do you think a Colt 1911 .38 Super might be more desirable and/or collectible or the good old standard .45 ACP 1911?

Honest and serious opinions welcome and thank you in advance for the help.

I would go with the 38 Super which I have some ammo I could sell/trade to you, and you already have 16-30 in 45 acp right. Lol

LOL. Yes I probably have 60-70 boxes of .45 but nothing in .38 Super so we may need to talk. I already bought a very old early 1900's engraved Colt 1902/1903 in .38 super but will probably never fire it.

45 is more popular in the US. 38super is more popular in Mexico. Where do you plan to sell them?

I was told EXACTLY the same thing yesterday about caliber preferences in the 2 different countries from a guy that makes custom guns and has quite a few Colts on hand.
