1911 Target Sight Issues...

I'm not sure what they were thinking but it definitely blacks out everything but the targetHoly Smoke! I'd keep that rear sight on the gun and rent it out for billboard advertising space!
This is cause for a lynching. Boys grab your rope and rotten fruit. This man has urinated on the Flag of the United States of America. I be damned! J/K of course.
I have the same sights on my Long slide. I just palm the middle of the slide with just a little of my fingers touching the rear serrations. I don't get any kind of discomfort. Of course some slides are tighter than others. Maybe a lighter spring or a little massaging on the slide to frame contact would free it up a bit so it's not so hard to rack. I really don't know what's going on in your case so those recommendations are a last resort scenario. I had to take a light layer of the coating off my 10mm long slide to obtain a smooth action. Both the frame and slide are stainless under the coating so corrosion wasn't a issue for me. However that area should get good bit of grease after every cleaning so It really shouldn't be a major issue. Like I said this is a last ditch effort. I would try a number of different manipulations of the slide first. My R1 Hunter Long slide 10mm has the same adj. sight assembly on the rear as well.
As far as the vote issue. I prefer an adjustable sight on my guns I don't plan on carrying. If it is a carry gun the Novak set up is much more reliable. Also a tritium set up is preferable as well. Then sit down and have a plate of tacos while I admire my 1911. Yummy, delicious that a nice 1911!
Definitely plenty of meat on the rear sight blade, you could removed some mTerial to get rid of the grabby teary parts.
Another option is to replace the adjustable rear sight with a fixed Heinie rear sight, specifically made to fit your Kimber. No sharp edges here! If you order one of the Heinie's, make sure you get one to fit a Kimber with adjustable sights. It will say it in the description. In the pics, the ones for an adjustable sight cut are the ones with the longer section on the front.
