38 super was developed around the 20's I think...basically a hopped up .38ACP. It's basically relegated to guys with raceguns running IPSC matches these days. I had a 1911 years converted to it years ago but didn't shoot it enough to sell it and since I loaded all my own ammunition, I can't speak to the price of it the not now but I ld be suprised if t was much more expensive that .45ACP. I imagine they'd be close it price.

It is actually a good shooter, I have two and have had no problem getting ammo over the years.
if you reload you would be suprised at the ballistic on a full loaded .38super rnd. My dad carried a 1911 for years in .38super...
