SOCIAL CIRCLE, Ga. — Wildlife officials in Georgia are proposing changes to fishing regulations.
The Georgia Department of Natural Resources' Wildlife Resources Division says the changes would remove the "mountain" trout season and would open all trout waters all year long.
The department has two public hearings scheduled so people can offer input on the proposed changes. One is set for Feb. 10 at the Fair Street Neighborhood Center in Gainesville, and the other is to be held Feb. 12 at the Red Top Mountain State Park conference center. Both hearings are scheduled for 7 p.m.
Those unable to attend the meetings can submit comments electronically or in writing.

The Board voted in favor of removing the trout season from seasonal trout waters at the Georgia Department of Natural Resources Board meeting on 3/25. This rule change will now be filed with the Secretary of State and we'll be notified of an effective date; which we expect to be measured in the order of weeks. This year's trout season opens this Saturday, March 28,
