This same thing happened to my wife while she was driving it a few weeks ago so it's random. After this happend to her I installed a brand new OEM fuel pump, EVAP box and purge solenoid. I also cleaned out the gas tank and refilled it.

Today she says it stalled on her again. She said she was driving and the RPM started fluctuating so she pulled over and the car stalled out. It restarted and when she got home I checked for codes with this $300 code reader I have. No codes and no check engine light.

Tomorrow I'll replace the crank shaft position sensor as it can cause this problem.

Not sure what else to check with being random, no codes and no check engine light???

I had a 1997 Chevy truck with 300+k miles do a sumiliar thing I think? Mine mainly did it in parking lots turning or backing up occasionally at a red light while in idle. Almost always cranked right back up instantly.
Does it do it at slow speeds mainly or high and low speeds?

Years later I explained this to a mechanic and he told me that was a classic sign of a torque converter going bad.. not sure this will help but gives you another rabit hole to chase.

Camshaft and / or crankshaft positions sensors are possible culprits. Getting good pressure at the fuel rail ?

I'm in an F150, but did the exact same thing a couple few times but only threw a code once. It was the Variable Valve Timing Solenoid. I would be driving with no issue and then when I would stop at a light or drive-thru every now and then it would shutter, skip and a couple times stall. Very annoying, good luck!

Have you taken the vehicle in for diagnostics? Or are you throwing parts at it hoping to fix the problem?
I have a really good code reader. After doing a complete scan there is no check engine light or trouble code.

Truck shut off on my wife again today twice.
